I was introduced to Battlefleet Gothic a couple of years ago by a friend who was running some Horus Heresy narrative events and used BFG as a secondary system in those events. He held some teaching sessions, and after that I got some 3D printed ships and whipped together a little fleet! It was a lot of fun painting Warhammer and such a vastly different scale, and I’ve had a lot of fun sort of integrating this fleet and how it interacts with my 28mm forces. It felt like having a “home” for my Daughters of Guilliman, and also a way to neatly tie in my Knights and my Solar Auxilia. It makes them all feel so much more real, and I think there’s real value in having space battles that tie into 28mm battles on the “surface” — it can really add a lot of immersion to the experience of an event!

The 1st Company of the Ultramarines 121st Chapter’s 1st Battalion, known as the Daughters of Guilliman, comprises approximately 100 Astartes. The 121st Chapter consists of ten Companies split across two Battalions. Each Company is about the same size as the Daughters, and the 121st Chapter totals around 1,000 Astartes. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Companies are housed on the Astartes Battle Barge Domina Ignis (The Lady of Fire) which is part of the 121st Chapter fleet, the “Ignis Spearhead.” Also part of the fleet is the Strike Cruiser Furiosa Princepa (The Furious Princess), which houses the 4th Company of the 121st, another Strike Cruiser Ala Victoriae (Wings of Victory), which houses the 5th Company of the 121st and much of its fighter and bomber capabilities, and four Nova Frigates, the Octavo Noctum (The Eighth Night), the Sol Aeternus (The Eternal Sun), the Gladius Ferrum (The Iron Sword), and the Hasta Fulminis (Spear of Lightning).

They are complemented by an Imperial Navy fleet including the Lunar-class Cruiser Argentum Regina (The Silver Queen), a Dauntless-class Light Cruiser Contumax Filia (Defiant Daughter), and four Cobra Rapid Strike Vessels, the Pugnus Aurorae (The Fist of Dawn), the Fortis Custos (Brave Guardian), the Lamina Vindictae (The Blade’s Vengeance), and the Vigilantia Aeterna (Eternal Vigilance). This fleet is the Talassar 2nd Fleet, which houses the 367th Ultramar Auxilia Cohort (my army will be the 4th Sub-Cohort).

Also accompanying the Navy fleet is the Chevalier-class Light Cruiser La Fidèle (The Faithful), which carries members of the Family Ismene of House Beaumaris and their three Cerastus Knights, one Questoris Knight, and four Armiger Warglaives.

These two fleets combined make up Battlegroup U121.SA367 or less formally, the Ignis Battlegroup.

I got most of the Astartes ships (and all the bases) from Godforge Minis, but unfortunately, it seems they probably got takedown requests from Games Workshop and now only offer their generic line of ships.

These Imperial Navy ships were mostly from the Specialist Arms forum which had a starter pack with some STLs, but unfortunately, that forum has closed down.

The Knight ship was Argosy Merchant Vessel by BlueSquat.
