Tactical Squad Quartia

Tactical Squad Quartia was regarded as one of the more unconventional formations of the 121st Chapter’s 2nd Company, distinguished by its aggressive methods and frequent disregard for established tactical dispositions, despite their tactical role. Although thoroughly trained in the doctrines of the XIII Legion, the squad was known to depart from prescribed operational plans when presented with opportunities for decisive action, a tendency which brought both considerable success, but also repeated censure from superior officers.

The Deimos-Pattern Rhino Portatrix Bellum (War Carrier) was an armored personnel carrier assigned to Tactical Squad Quartia, distinguished by its prolonged operational service and the considerable battle damage accumulated over three successive campaigns without a comprehensive refit. Its exterior bore little ornamentation beyond the markings required by Legion convention, with extensive thermal scoring and impact damage providing evidence of its repeated employment in contested assaults.

The Legionaries of Squad Quartia were known to strike the vehicle’s hull before embarking, a custom reportedly observed even by the squad’s more irreverent members. Though occasionally interpreted as a gesture of reverence towards its machine spirit, the practice was generally understood among the squad as an acknowledgement of the vehicle’s long and dependable service.
