The Dreadnought Drop Pod Ferrum Caelum (Iron Sky) was among the longest-serving orbital insertion craft assigned to the 121st Chapter’s 2nd Company, its operational history extending to the latter decades of the Great Crusade. Employed in planetary compliance actions, voidborne assaults and contested orbital insertions, the vessel was responsible for delivering the Chapter’s Dreadnought ancients directly into heavily defended landing zones. Although its guidance cogitators, retro-thruster assemblies and internal restraint mechanisms underwent repeated refurbishment, the original armoured shell remained in service throughout the Horus Heresy.
