Middenheim Warband: The Carroburg Crows

Starting from the remnants of a scattered Middenland free company, Olivia Albrecht’s warband has grown into a motley collection of old comrades, hired swords, and new companions. They venture into Mordheim in search of wyrdstone and fortune, but for Olivia there is another purpose: somewhere along the thousands drawn to the ruined city, more friends from her scattered company may yet be found.

Mercenary Captain

Olivia Albrecht once served as second-in-command of a free company in Middenland, but when the comet fell, they were scattered. She has since reunited with a few members of her former company, but even as she gathers new freeblades to her banner to search the ruined city for wyrdstone, she never gives up on finding more of her lost comrades.

Champions

Before taking up arms, Arik Halvek spent his early years working as a stonemason’s apprentice in Middenheim. Soldiering offered better pay and a less monotonous life and he traded his hammer for a mace and served in various free companies across Middenland. He knew of Olivia’s previous company by their reputation before her met her, and when their paths crossed, he decided to join up with her.

Matthias Kruger spent twelve years as a sergeant in the service of Middenheim and earned a reputation for being committed to keeping inexperienced soldiers alive. He places the same amount of care and attention on the younger members of the his current warband.

Wolf Priest of Ulric

Johanna Engel is young for a Wolf Priest. She lacks the reputation enjoyed the more experienced of Ulric’s followers, and she is impatient. Rather than spend decades waiting for age and experience to be the source of her gravitas, she came to Mordheim. She believes that if she can survive the City of the Damned, then she can speed that process up a bit.

YoungBloods

Klara Baumann is the daughter of a struggling cooper. When the rumors about Mordheim reached her, she saw a way to improve her own life and that of her family’s and joined up with a company to search for wyrdstone.

Ulrich Eisenwald is the son of a dockworker from Carroburg. He ran from debt and hunger into soldiering, but has seen little of any real combat. Unfortunately, the cursed ruins of Mordheim left him disfigured and fighting for his life as soon as he entered them.

Elf Ranger

Amalthea has wandered the forests and roads of the Old World for many times longer than any of her human companions have been alive. She never says what brought her to Mordheim, but she seems far more interested in what the wyrdstone has done to the land than in the stone itself or any sense of wealth.

Dwarf Trollslayer

Ulfi Bjornson’s son betrayed his hold, opening its gates to the enemy in exchange for promises that were never kept. Though Ulfi struck his own son down before the battle ended, he could not escape the shame of having raised a traitor, and took the Slayer Oath as a chance for penance.

Swordsman

Otto Ostwald served for many years in the watch of a small Middenland town. Though quite a skilled swordsman, most of his duties involved drunks, petty thieves, and lost livestock. After the comet fell, he decided to prove to himself that he was truly a talented swordsman and took the opportunity to head to the Ruined City. The potential riches are secondary to him, though after a few days in Mordheim, he misses the predictable boredom of his old life.

Warriors

The backbone of the company, these warriors are drawn from soldiers, laborers, and freeblades throughout Middenland. A few served alongside Olivia before the comet fell, while many others have joined her since.

Marksmen

Hunters, former soldiers, and practiced woodsmen make up the company’s marksmen. Most learned to shoot in the forests and fields of Middenland rather than on a training ground, and bring that same practical approach to Mordheim.
