Veteran Assault Squad Ardentis was among the formations raised during the reconstitution of the 121st Chapter following the catastrophe at Calth. Drawn principally from Inductii who had survived the earliest retaliatory campaigns against the Traitor Legions, the squad represented a new generation of Ultramarines whose martial experience had been acquired almost entirely amid the brutal warfare of the Shadow Crusade.
